Patternmaster is the final novel in the internal chronology of Octavia E. Butler's acclaimed Patternist Series. Set in a distant future, the world is divided between the powerful Patternists—a society of telepaths connected through a psychic network called the Pattern—the mutant Clayarks, and ordinary humans who live under Patternist rule.
